1. Introduction and Acceptance
Welcome to Avelan, a language learning application developed by an independent developer based in Sweden. By downloading, installing, or using the Avelan app ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Avelan is an iOS application that provides:
- Interactive language learning lessons for multiple languages
- Audio pronunciation guides and vocabulary training
- Progress tracking and learning statistics
- Daily goal setting and achievement tracking
- Offline learning capabilities
3. License and Usage Rights
3.1 Limited License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on iOS devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms of Service.
3.2 Permitted Use
You may use the App for personal language learning and educational, non-commercial purposes.
3.3 Prohibited Use
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling the App
- Sharing, redistributing, or reselling the App or its content
- Using the App for commercial language teaching without permission
- Extracting or copying audio files or lesson content
- Attempting to access backend systems or analytics data
- Using the App in violation of applicable laws
4. Intellectual Property
All content in the App — lesson materials, audio recordings, design, code, and visual elements — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by Swedish and international intellectual property laws.
Data you generate while using the App (learning progress, settings) remains your property and is stored locally on your device.
5. App Store Terms
The App is distributed through Apple's App Store. Your use is also subject to Apple's Terms. App purchases are processed by Apple; refund requests must be made through Apple.
6. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. In summary: all learning data stays on your device, we collect only anonymous analytics, and we never sell user data.
7. User Responsibilities
- Maintain compatible iOS devices and adequate storage
- Internet connection needed for initial download and updates
- Use the App in good faith for language learning
- Users under 13 should have parental supervision
8. Service Availability
We strive to maintain availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update the App to add features, fix issues, or modify content.
9. Disclaimers and Limitations
The App is for educational purposes only. We do not guarantee language fluency or specific learning outcomes. The App is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind.
To the maximum extent permitted by Swedish and applicable law, our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.
10. Swedish Law and EU Compliance
These Terms are governed by Swedish law and EU regulations, including GDPR and Swedish Consumer Protection laws. If you are an EU consumer, you retain all rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
For disputes: contact us first, or use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform. Swedish courts have jurisdiction for legal disputes.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect service changes or legal requirements. We will update the "Last Updated" date and provide in-app notice for significant changes. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may terminate or suspend access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, data stored on your device remains yours.

14. Severability
